Regular Season Round 5: MTK - ZTE NKK 44-83

Bottom-ranked MTK (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-44 loss to fourth ranked ZTE NKK (4-2) in Budapest. It was a great shooting night for ZTE NKK especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Austrian guard Sigi Koizar (173-95, college: Maine) nailed 25 points for the winning side and Dutch forward Janis Ndiba (183-97) accounted for 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Janka Hegedus (185-94, college: FIU) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Flora Szabo (187-92) added 8 points and 4 steals respectively for MTK in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ZTE NKK moved-up to third place. MTK lost their third game in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. ZTE NKK's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Atomeromu in Szekszard and it will be for sure the game of the week. MTK will play on the road against the league's leader Sopron Basket (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
