Regular Season Round 7: Cegledi EKK - Vasas Akademia 71-89

Vasas Akademia has finally registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Cegled, where they defeated Cegledi EKK (1-6) 89-71. Vasas Akademia made 27-of-31 charity shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Vasas Akademia had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by Cegledi EKK helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of Serbian power forward Jefimija Karakasevic (191-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Reka Dombai (179-2) contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds (made all of her ten free throws !!!) for the winners. Five Vasas Akademia players scored in double figures. Icelandic swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) answered with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian point guard Jovana Popovic (173-90) added 18 points and 5 assists in the effort for Cegledi EKK. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vasas Akademia (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with MTK. Cegledi EKK at the other side dropped to the bottom position with six games lost. Vasas Akademia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Budapest to the arena MTK.
