Regular Season Round 11: Novosybirsk - Vostok-65 85-68

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Novosybirsk (7-3) defeated at home 5th ranked Vostok-65 (7-3) 85-68. Novosybirsk brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Center Alexey Kurtsevich (210-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Alexander Martynov (196-95) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Novosybirsk players scored in double figures. Swingman Iliya Syrovatko (193-88) answered with 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (183-89, college: St.Louis) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Vostok-65. Vostok-65's coach Eduard Sandler rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Novosybirsk have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Spartak SP and Vostok-65. Novosybirsk's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Samara at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Vostok-65 will play against Uralmash and hope to win that game.
