Regular Season Round 10: GTK Gliwice - Usti n/Labem 81-83

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Polish GTK (5-1) in Gliwice. Hosts were edged by Czech BK Usti nad Labem (4-2) 83-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of GTK. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as GTK took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then BK Usti nad Labem had a 21-14 second period charge getting the lead and GTK was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-83. BK Usti nad Labem made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Spencer Svejcar (193-94, college: Alaska-Anch.) who helped to win the game recording 20 points. Center Pavel Houska (203-84, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four BK Usti nad Labem players scored in double figures. American guard Desmond Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Damonte Dodd (211-94, college: Maryland) added 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for GTK. GTK's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. BK Usti nad Labem keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 6 other teams. GTK at the other side still keeps top place with one game lost. BK Usti nad Labem will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GTK will play at home against Hallmann and hopes to get back on the winning track.
