No shocking result in a game when third ranked Nadezhda Orenburg (5-1) defeated at home 6th ranked MBA (2-5) 77-69 on Sunday. Nadezhda Orenburg dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to MBA's 20. They outrebounded MBA 54-25 including a 23-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American center Brionna Jones (190-95, college: Maryland) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds. Her fellow American import point guard Erica Wheeler (170-91, college: Rutgers, agency: ProDep Management) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Four Nadezhda Orenburg players scored in double figures. Nadezhda Orenburg's coach Victor Lapena used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Maria Kaytukova (173-92) responded with 16 points and international Anna Leshovceva (181-87) scored 15 points. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Nadezhda Orenburg. They maintain third place with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Dynamo K. MBA lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with five games lost. They share it with Inventa. Nadezhda Orenburg will meet league's second-placed UMMC Ekaterinburg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MBA will play against Spartak Noginsk (#9) and hope to secure a win.
