Regular Season Round 14: Neftekhimik T. - Arsenal 105-101

The most shocking disappointment of round 14 was a road defeat of 5th ranked Arsenal (7-3) to eighth ranked Neftekhimik T. (4-6) 105-101. It ended the two-game winning streak of Arsenal. They outrebounded Arsenal 51-36 including 19 on the offensive glass. Neftekhimik T. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 28 personal fouls committed by Arsenal helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Dmitriy Ezhov (207-91) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Taras Klyundikov (190-95) chipped in 22 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Point guard Nikita Burkov (180-91) responded with 28 points and the former international guard Aleksandr Golyakhov (194-91) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Arsenal's coach Viktor Uskov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Despite that victory Neftekhimik T. went down to ninth position due to points difference. Arsenal at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Neftekhimik T. are looking forward to face higher ranked Ryazan (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Arsenal will play against the league's second-placed Dyn-Magn.ChL and will have a slim chance for a victory.
