The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked N.Novgorod-2's (7-9) road loss to fifth ranked Zenit-2 (10-6) in Sankt Petersburg 61-86 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Zenit-2. N.Novgorod-2 managed to win third quarter 24-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zenit-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to N.Novgorod-2's 34. They outrebounded N.Novgorod-2 50-29 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for forward Nikita Soldatov (199-99, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Vladimir Fomenko (-0) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Five Zenit-2 players scored in double figures. Forward Aleksandr Chadov (201-1) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and guard Alexey Morozov (186-99) added 16 points in the effort for N.Novgorod-2. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zenit-2 have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Unics-2. Loser N.Novgorod-2 keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Zenit-2 is looking forward to face Avtodor-2 (#8) in Saratov in the next round. N.Novgorod-2 will play at home against the league's second-placed CSKA Junior and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
