Regular Season Round 11: ZTE NKK - Vasas Akademia 89-53

Very expected game in Zalaegerszeg where 9th ranked Vasas Akademia (2-7) was rolled over by third ranked ZTE NKK (8-3) 89-53 on Saturday. ZTE NKK forced 19 Vasas Akademia turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Vasas Akademia's players. It was a great evening for American center Nadia Parker (191-87, college: USC) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). The former international center Dora Horti (193-87) helped adding 19 points and 5 rebounds. Parker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four ZTE NKK players scored in double figures. Bosnian power forward Sara Heljic (188-0) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international guard Vivien Borondy (175-95) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. ZTE NKK maintains third place with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Sopron Basket. Vasas Akademia lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with PINKK-Pecsi. ZTE NKK will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vasas Akademia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Budapest BEAC-Ujbuda.
