Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Limassol: Apollon (#4) and AEL (#7). Apollon (6-5) won against visiting AEL (3-8) 80-73. They outrebounded AEL 46-30 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Apollon players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Cameron Naylor (201-94, college: Texas St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds. The former international point guard Stefanos Iliadis (185-94, college: S.Florida) contributed with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Naylor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Apollon players scored in double figures. American guard Deondre Parks (185-92, college: S.Dakota St.) answered with 23 points and 6 assists and the former international guard Iraklis Pittakas (192-84) added 13 points in the effort for AEL. Apollon maintains fourth place with 6-5 record. AEL lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with E.N. Paralimni. Apollon will play against league's leader AEK Larnaca at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. AEL will play against Etha (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
