Regular Season Round 17: Avtodor-2 - CSKA Junior 93-75

There was a change at the VTB-Youth leadership position after last games. Round 17 most important game was a defeat of league's leader CSKA Junior (15-4). They were defeated by seventh ranked Avtodor-2 (11-10) 93-75 on Wednesday night. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of CSKA Junior. The game was mostly controlled by Avtodor-2. CSKA Junior managed to win fourth quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avtodor-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to CSKA Junior's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Swingman Aleksandr Petenev (197-0) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and forward Anton Kvitkovskikh (200-0) chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Filipp Gafurov (209-1) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Danila Pokhodiaev (199-1) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Avtodor-2 moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Samara-2. CSKA Junior at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Khimki-2. CSKA Junior will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Avtodor-2 will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked CSKA Junior in Moscow.
