Fourteenth-ranked Kupol-Rodniki (6-14) made lots of trouble for first ranked Vostok-65 (17-3) in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on Thursday. Vostok-65 managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. Vostok-65 made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Kupol-Rodniki helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international forward Aleksandr Gudumak (203-93, agency: Alti Sport) fired 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Center Daniil Solovev (212-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The former international Ivan Rusetskiy (198-93) produced 26 points and forward Igor Samsonov (202-89) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vostok-65 have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Vostok-65 maintains first position with 17-3 record. Kupol-Rodniki at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. Vostok-65 are looking forward to face MBA Moscow (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them.
