Fourth ranked Unics-2 won an overtime thriller edging 3rd ranked Lokomotiv-2 by one point 70-71 on Tuesday night. Lokomotiv-2 was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-19 charge of Unics-2, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 8-7. Unics-2 forced 21 Lokomotiv-2 turnovers. Lokomotiv-2 was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Kiril Poponin (198-98) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. Artem Ivanov (193-98) contributed with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Unics-2's coach Andrei Kibenko used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Zakhar Vedischev (196-0) replied with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and point guard Serafim Koroteev (188-0) added 14 points in the effort for Lokomotiv-2. Unics-2 maintains fourth position with 16-10 record. Lokomotiv-2 at the other side dropped to the second place with eight games lost. Unics-2 will face Samara-2 (#5) on the road in the next round. Lokomotiv-2 will play against CSKA Junior and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
