Regular Season Round 16: AEL - Apollon 93-86

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Limassol: AEL (#6) and Apollon (#4). AEL (6-10) won against visiting Apollon (8-8) 93-86. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 31-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. AEL looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Blake Hamilton (198-94, college: Buffalo) who helped to win the game recording 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) who added 23 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Lithuanian guard Dovydas Redikas (193-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists and American power forward Javion Ogunyemi (207-95, college: Siena) scored 24 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Apollon players scored in double figures. AEL moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Etha. Apollon at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. AEL is looking forward to face Etha (#5) in Nicosia in the next round. Apollon will play at home against E.N. Paralimni and is hoping to win this game.
