Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Limassol: Anagennises (#5) and Aris (#6). Aris was defeated at home 57-70 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Anagennises forced 22 Aris turnovers and outrebounded them 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Maranne Johnson (170-96, college: Sacramento St.) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Zoe Agapiou (182-83) contributed with 8 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Center Daria Evdokimova (185-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and guard Mezra Torlak (172-2) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Aris. Aris' coach Pantelis Konstantinou rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Anagennises maintains fifth position with 6-6 record. Aris lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with ENAD. Anagennises will play against higher ranked Apoel (#3) in Nicosia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Aris will play on the road against APOP Paphou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
