Leader Khimki-2 delivered the twenty third win on Thursday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Zenit-2 (11-17) 81-77 in Sankt Petersburg. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Zenit-2 won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Khimki-2 won last quarter 21-19. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was center Dmitrii Karbusov (205-99) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Sergey Klyuev (205-98, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Khimki-2's coach Alexander Gerasimov used entire bench in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Yakov Yakovlev (194-99) who recorded 27 points and 6 rebounds and forward Nikita Soldatov (199-99, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Khimki-2 have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-7 record. Zenit-2 lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 17 games lost. Khimki-2 are looking forward to face Spartak SP-2 (#9) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zenit-2 will play at home against Parma-2 and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
