Very expected game when 7th ranked N.Novgorod-2 (12-17) was crushed on the road by third ranked Samara-2 (20-12) 96-75. It looked good early as N.Novgorod-2 took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Samara-2 had a 27-18 second period charge getting the lead and N.Novgorod-2 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-96. Samara-2 players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Guard Dmitriy Gusenkov (185-99) notched 20 points and 9 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and center Dmitriy Khaldeyev (208-99) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Samara-2 players scored in double figures. Even 9 points and 7 rebounds by guard Ivan Pynko (195-0) did not help to save the game for N.Novgorod-2. Center Vladimir Byrdin (206-99) added 12 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Samara-2 have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 20-12 record having just fourteen point less than leader Khimki-2. N.Novgorod-2 lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 17 games lost. Samara-2 will play against Avtodor-2 (#6) in Saratov in the next round. N.Novgorod-2 will play on the road against Unics-2 in Kazan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
