There was no surprise in Kazan where 8th ranked N.Novgorod-2 (12-19) was defeated by sixth ranked Unics-2 (20-12) 68-50 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-50. Unics-2 dominated on the defensive end, holding N.Novgorod-2 to just 7 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to N.Novgorod-2's 24. Unics-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Kiril Poponin (198-98) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds and center Semen Pinaev (208-99) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. They keep the eighth position with 19 games lost. Unics-2 will meet at home Spartak SP-2 (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. N.Novgorod-2 will play against Zenit-2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
