Regular Season Round 18: Omonia - AEL 88-84

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Omonia (6-12) won against 6th ranked AEL (6-12) in Nicosia 88-84 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-19. But AEL won second period 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for point guard Jarvis Garrett (182-95, college: Rhode Island) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Center Tony Woods (211-90, college: Oregon) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Omonia players scored in double figures. Forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Deondre Parks (185-92, college: S.Dakota St.) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for AEL. Omonia moved-up to sixth place, which they share with defeated AEL. Omonia will face league's leader Keravnos in Strovolos in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
