Lokomotiv-2 managed to secure a 5-point victory 89-84 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Avtodor-2. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Avtodor-2 won third quarter 26-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Avtodor-2 38-27 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lokomotiv-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Center Kirill Popov (202-98, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Andrey Matyuk (206-0) contributed with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Swingman Aleksandr Petenev (197-0) answered with 28 points and point guard Igor Bestuzhev (180-99) added 21 points and 6 assists in the effort for Avtodor-2. Four Avtodor-2 players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Lokomotiv-2 maintains third place with 22-9 record having just ten point less than leader Khimki-2. Loser Avtodor-2 dropped to the sixth position with 15 games lost. Lokomotiv-2 will have a break next round. Avtodor-2 will play again at home against Lokomotiv-2 (#3) and hope to win that game.
