Regular Season Round 23: Sopron Basket - ZTE NKK 81-54

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sopron. Leader Sopron Basket faced 4th placed ZTE NKK. Host Sopron Basket (22-0) smashed guests from Zalaegerszeg (14-8) 81-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ZTE NKK. Sopron Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to ZTE NKK's 26. Sopron Basket had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Yvonne Turner (176-87, college: Nebraska) who scored 16 points and 4 steals. Her fellow American import power forward Candice Dupree (188-84, college: Temple) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sopron Basket players scored in double figures. Sopron Basket's coach Roberto Iniguez felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Greek Evanthia Maltsi (180-78) produced 19 points and the former international center Dora Horti (193-87) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Sopron Basket have an impressive series of twenty two victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 22-0 record. ZTE NKK at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with PEAC-Pecs.
