No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kormend (19-6) defeated at home 6th ranked ZTE KK (12-13) 96-86 on Sunday. Kormend made 25-of-28 free shots (89.3 percent) during the game. Strangely ZTE KK outrebounded Kormend 39-24 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Kormend especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. ZTE KK was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was dominated by American players. Guard TJ Price (193-93, college: WKU) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Xavier Thames (191-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 21 points and 6 assists. Guard Bernard Thompson (191-93, college: FGCU) produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Kormend and four ZTE KK players scored in double figures. They have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Kormend maintains second place with 19-6 record behind leader Szolnok. ZTE KK lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 13 games lost. Kormend will face Atomeromu (#9) in Paks in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ZTE KK will play at home against PVSK-Veolia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
