Top ranked Kormend (23-7) recorded its seventh loss at the home court on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Szolnok (22-8) 88-84. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Kormend. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Szolnok looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Kormend helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international swingman David Vojvoda (196-90) who scored 35 points (!!!). Serbian forward Nikola Malesevic (202-89, college: URI, agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Desonta Bradford (193-96, college: ETSU) produced 15 points and 5 assists and the other American import guard Xavier Thames (191-91, college: San Diego St., agency: Slash Sports) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Kormend players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second place with 22-8 record having just eight point less than leader KTE-Duna. Defending champion Kormend still keeps top position with seven games lost. Szolnok are looking forward to face PVSK-Veolia (#5) in Pecs in the next round. Kormend will have a break next round.
