Regular Season Round 5: Atomeromu - PINKK-Pecsi 95-61

Bottom-ranked PINKK-Pecsi (0-4) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 95-61 loss to fourth ranked Atomeromu (4-1) in Szekszard. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to PINKK-Pecsi's 32. Atomeromu forced 26 PINKK-Pecsi turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by PINKK-Pecsi's players. American forward Erica McCall (190-95, college: Stanford) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and the former international Reka Balint (182-91) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Atomeromu players scored in double figures. Atomeromu's coach Zeljko Djokic felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Shenita Landry (190-87, college: Temple) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and German guard Emma Stach (175-96, college: Gonzaga) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for PINKK-Pecsi in the defeat. Atomeromu moved-up to second place, which they share with Miskolc. PINKK-Pecsi lost their fourth game in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Atomeromu's next round opponent will be league's leader Sopron Basket on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. PINKK-Pecsi will play against UNI Gyor (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
