Regular Season Round 5: MBA-2 - Unics-2 79-59

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked MBA-2 (3-3) outplayed 3rd placed Unics-2 (4-2) in Moscow 79-59 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by MBA-2. Unics-2 was better in second period 13-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Maxim Kuzemkin (198-2) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Andrey Kanaev (193-2) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Five MBA-2 players scored in double figures. Center Semen Pinaev (208-99) answered with 14 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and forward Stanislav Sevostyanov (198-99) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Unics-2. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MBA-2 moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Avtodor-2. Unics-2 at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. MBA-2 will face league's second-placed N.Novgorod-2 in Nizhny Novgorod in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unics-2 will play on the road against Spartak-Prim.-2 in Vladivostok and hope to win that game.
