Regular Season Round 6: Spartak-Prim.-2 - Unics-2 107-101

An interesting game took place in Vladivostok where 6th ranked Unics-2 (5-3) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Spartak-Prim.-2 (3-5) 107-101 on Friday. Unics-2 trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 27-12 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 101-107 at the end of the game. Spartak-Prim.-2 made 24-of-26 free shots (92.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Unics-2 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Unics-2 was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Gennadii Denisov (207-0) had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Sergey Grashkin (202-2) chipped in 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Nikita Sokolov (197-99) with 22 points and 9 rebounds and center Semen Pinaev (208-99) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Unics-2's coach Andrei Kibenko rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Spartak-Prim.-2 maintains ninth position with 3-5 record. Loser Unics-2 dropped to the fourth place with three games lost. Spartak-Prim.-2 will face again higher ranked Unics-2 (#4) in Kazan in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
