Regular Season Round 9: Rusichi K. - Zenit-Farm 87-86

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Superleague 2 took place in Kursk. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Zenit-Farm (4-3) to sixth ranked Rusichi K. (2-5) 87-86 on Saturday evening. Rusichi K. forced 28 Zenit-Farm turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Zenit-Farm helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Svyatoslav Makushkin (202-92) stepped up and scored 31 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Aleksandr Olenev (205-93) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was center Kirill Arkhipov (202-96) with 22 points and 8 rebounds and forward Fedor Shpakov (200-97) scored 21 points and 7 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Rusichi K. maintains sixth place with 2-5 record. Zenit-Farm at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Rusichi K. are again looking forward to face higher ranked Zenit-Farm (#4) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zenit-Farm will have a break next round.
