Regular Season Round 7: Neuchatel - Swiss Central 94-66
Date: November 10, 2019
Bottom-ranked Swiss Central (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 94-66 loss to third ranked Neuchatel (6-1) in Neuchatel on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Neuchatel outrebounded Swiss Central 48-37 including 16 on the offensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Neuchatel made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American guard Marquis Jackson (189-94, college: Ohio Christian) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Naturalized Dominican point guard Bryan Colon (181-92) helped adding 17 points and 5 assists. At the losing side Jamaican-American forward Joel Wright (201-90, college: Texas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and Lithuanian guard Laurynas Samenas (192-88) scored 15 points and 4 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Neuchatel. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Geneve Lions. Swiss Central lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Neuchatel will meet at home Boncourt (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Swiss Central will play against Pully (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
