Regular Season Round 9: Chernye Medv. - Kazanochka 75-72

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Superleague 1 took place in Sankt Petersburg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Kazanochka (5-4) to eighth ranked Chernye Medv. (3-6) 75-72 on Tuesday evening. Chernye Medv. forced 19 Kazanochka turnovers. It was a good game for center Ekaterina Genadieva (187-96) who led her team to a victory with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Yelena Samorodova (174-99) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Guard Kseniya Kunakova (168-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward Olga Lavrova (182-95) added 19 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Kazanochka. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Chernye Medv. moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sparta&K-2 V and MBA-2. Kazanochka at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Chernye Medv. is again looking forward to face higher ranked Kazanochka (#6) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kazanochka will have a break next round.
