Regular Season Round 5: Anorthosis - Keravnos 64-62

This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Keravnos (2-3) to second ranked Anorthosis (4-1) 64-62 on Wednesday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Keravnos won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Nike McClure (190-96, college: N.Mexico) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 18 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Swingman Marissa Pangalos (170-95) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Anorthosis players scored in double figures. International center Sophia Theologou (190-88) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and American-Greek Niki Avery (167-86, college: EKU, agency: Interperformances) added 19 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Anorthosis have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted Anorthosis maintains second place with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader C2S AEL. Keravnos lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Etha. Anorthosis are looking forward to face Anagennises (#3) in Limassol in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Keravnos will play against Phoenix and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
