Regular Season Round 11: Avtodor-2 - Khimki-2 93-90

The most exciting game of round 11 in the VTB-Youth League took place in Saratov. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Khimki-2 (7-5) to sixth ranked Avtodor-2 (7-5) 93-90 in the game for the fourth place. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-90. Avtodor-2 forced 24 Khimki-2 turnovers. Strangely Khimki-2 outrebounded Avtodor-2 39-24 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Khimki-2 helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Anton Kvitkovskikh (200-0) who scored 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Forward Aleksandr Petenev (197-0) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Daniil Ziborov (206-99) produced 16 points and 8 rebounds and center Dmitrii Karbusov (205-99) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Avtodor-2 have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Unics-2 and Khimki-2. Avtodor-2 is looking forward to face Spartak-Prim.-2 (#9) in Vladivostok in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Khimki-2 will have a break next round.
