Regular Season Round 12: MBA-2 - Samara-2 78-55

The most important game in the last round took place in Moscow between third ranked Samara-2 (10-4) and fifth ranked MBA-2 (7-7) on Wednesday night. Samara-2 was crushed by MBA-2 on the road 78-55. The game without a history. MBA-2 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Samara-2 to just 7 points in fourth quarter. MBA-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Samara-2's 26. MBA-2 forced 23 Samara-2 turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when MBA-2 made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Maxim Kuzemkin (198-2) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Andrey Kanaev (193-2) who added 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four MBA-2 players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Danila Chikarev (197-1) with 12 points and 5 rebounds and guard Kirill Frolov (185-99) scored 14 points. Samara-2's coach Dmitry Pivtsaykin gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory MBA-2 went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with Avtodor-2 and Spartak-Prim.-2. Samara-2 at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They share the position with N.Novgorod-2. MBA-2 is again looking forward to face higher ranked Samara-2 (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Samara-2 will have a break next round.
