Regular Season Round 17: MBA-2 - Spartak SP 76-78

The most exciting game of round 17 in the Superleague 1 took place in Moscow. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked MBA-2 (7-9) to eighth ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (7-9) 78-76 in the game for the sixth place. Point guard Anastaiya Kuplinova (175-96) stepped up and scored 27 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Diana Popova (184-97) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. Center Anastasiia Bobrik (185-1) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and Olesya Tumanova scored 16 points. Four MBA-2 players scored in double figures. MBA-2's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Spartak St.Petersburg moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Stavropol and MBA-2. Spartak St.Petersburg is looking forward to face bottom-ranked UMMC Junior (#12) in Ekaterinburg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. MBA-2 will play on the road against Sparta&K-2 V (#11) in Vidnoye and is hoping to win this game.
