Regular Season Round 8: Etha - ENAD 147-47

Bottom-ranked ENAD (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 147-47 loss to fifth ranked InterCollege Etha (3-5) in Nicosia on Sunday evening. The game without a history. InterCollege Etha led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding ENAD to just 7 points in first quarter. InterCollege Etha held ENAD to an opponent 21.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 65.7 percent accuracy of the winners. InterCollege Etha forced 26 ENAD turnovers and outrebounded them 71-28 including a 56-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. InterCollege Etha looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by ENAD's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Angela Tompkins (188-91, college: Wichita St.) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 50 points (!!!), 21 rebounds and 12 assists (on 22-of-28 shooting from the field) and point guard Ioanna Kyprianou (160-3) who added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Four InterCollege Etha players scored in double figures. Point guard Charalambia Kalianou (170-99) responded with 24 points and 7 rebounds and forward Popi Frageskou (172-87) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Newly promoted InterCollege Etha maintains fifth position with 3-5 record. Loser ENAD still closes the standings with eight games lost. InterCollege Etha's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Nicosia to the arena Keravnos.
