Regular Season Round 8: Anagennises - Keravnos 47-67

The biggest surprise of round 8 in Division A was guest Keravnos' (#3) easy road victory over Anagennises (#4) 67-47 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Keravnos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Anagennises to just 6 points in first quarter. Keravnos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Anagennises' players. The best player for the winners was international center Sophia Theologou (190-88) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. American-Greek Niki Avery (167-86, college: EKU, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Keravnos' coach Christos Stylianidis used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Tatiana Wayne (168-96, college: Columbus St.) produced 24 points and 9 rebounds and center Eleni Kalli (178-96) added 6 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Keravnos have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 5-3 record having just three points less than leader C2S AEL. Anagennises at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Keravnos are looking forward to face InterCollege Etha (#5) in Nicosia in the next round. Anagennises will have a break next round.
