Regular Season Round 17: Khimki-2 - Spartak-Prim.-2 99-84

Very expected game when 10th ranked Spartak-Prim.-2 (7-13) lost on the road to third ranked Khimki-2 (13-7) 99-84. It looked good early as Spartak-Prim.-2 took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Khimki-2 had a 32-19 second period charge getting the lead and Spartak-Prim.-2 was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 84-99. Khimki-2 forced 20 Spartak-Prim.-2 turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The best player for the winners was center Dmitrii Karbusov (205-99) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Ivan Evstigneev (194-99) chipped in 19 points. Khimki-2's coach Alexander Gerasimov allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Dmitry Plyuschai (185-0) produced 14 points and 6 assists and forward Nikita Bogdanov (196-0) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Khimki-2. They maintain third place with 13-7 record having nine points less than leader CSKA Junior. Spartak-Prim.-2 lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Khimki-2's next round opponent will be Parma-2 (#11) in Perm and are hoping to win another game. Spartak-Prim.-2 will play on the road against MBA-2 in Moscow and hope to win that game.
