Tenth-ranked Chernye Medv. (7-14) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (11-10) in Sankt Petersburg. Spartak St.Petersburg managed to secure only three-point victory 55-52. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chernye Medv.. Spartak St.Petersburg forced 22 Chernye Medv. turnovers and had a 14-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Natalia Vodopianova fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Forward Diana Popova (184-97) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. Center Kristina Kord (186-1) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Elizaveta Balykova (172-98) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Chernye Medv.'s coach Kiril Volodin tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Spartak St.Petersburg maintains fifth position with 11-10 record. Chernye Medv. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. Spartak St.Petersburg's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sankt Petersburg Chernye Medv..
