Regular Season Round 19: Spartak-Prim.-2 - MBA-2 64-84

There was no surprise in Vladivostok where 10th ranked Spartak-Prim.-2 (8-18) was crushed by fifth ranked MBA-2 (14-12) 84-64. The game was mostly controlled by MBA-2. Spartak-Prim.-2 was better in fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. MBA-2 dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak-Prim.-2's 30. MBA-2 forced 20 Spartak-Prim.-2 turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for guard Egor Pokinko (185-2) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Center Vladimir Tkachenko (200-2) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four MBA-2 players scored in double figures. Forward Gennadii Denisov (207-0) came up with 22 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and forward Georgy Pilipchuk (202-1) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Spartak-Prim.-2 in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for MBA-2. Newly promoted MBA-2 maintains fifth place with 14-12 record. Spartak-Prim.-2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. MBA-2's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Enisey-2 (#12) in Krasnoyarsk and are hoping to win another game. Spartak-Prim.-2 will play on the road against the league's leader CSKA Junior in Moscow and hope to win that game.
