Regular Season Round 27: Nika - Neftyanik 70-63

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Syktyvkar. Second ranked Nika faced 3rd placed Neftyanik. Host Nika (21-4) defeated guests from Omsk (17-8) 70-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Neftyanik. Nika forced 23 Neftyanik turnovers. Strangely Neftyanik outrebounded Nika 40-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Nika made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was forward Julia Poluyanova (187-92) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Ekaterina Ryabova (181-93) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Nika players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Marina Sheveleva (184-89) who recorded 9 points and 11 rebounds and center Sofya Kornyenko (187-98) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Neftyanik's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nika have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain second place with 21-4 record having just two points less than leader Rostov. Neftyanik at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. They share it with Dynamo-Farm. Nika are again looking forward to face Neftyanik (#4) in Omsk in the next round. Neftyanik will have a break next round.
