An exciting game was played in Nicosia. Third ranked Keravnos faced second-ranked Anorthosis. Host Keravnos (7-3) defeated guests from (7-2) 58-48. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Anorthosis. It looked good early as Anorthosis took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Keravnos took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 10 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Anorthosis to just 5 points in second quarter. American-Greek Niki Avery (167-86, college: EKU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Sophia Theologou (190-88) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Nike McClure (190-96, college: N.Mexico) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds and the former international forward Tijana Raca (183-97, college: Wyoming) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Anorthosis. Defending champion maintains third place with 7-3 record having just three points less than leader C2S AEL. Newly promoted Anorthosis keeps the second position with two games lost. Keravnos will play against Phoenix (#6) in the next round. Anorthosis will play against Anagennises (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
