Regular Season Round 11: Anagennises - C2S AEL 38-80

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Limassol: C2S AEL (#1) and Anagennises (#5). Anagennises was crushed at home by 42 points 38-80 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. C2S AEL led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Anagennises to just 5 points in third quarter and to 10 points in second half. C2S AEL held Anagennises to an opponent 21.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 54.7 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Anagennises 42-30 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. C2S AEL looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Anagennises' players. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Stavria Koniali (170-93) who scored 17 points and 8 assists. The former international swingman Petra Orlovic (178-90) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. C2S AEL's coach Giorgos Palalas felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Tatiana Wayne (168-96, college: Columbus St.) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Styliana Velinova (188-0) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. C2S AEL (10-0) have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 10 victories in a row. Anagennises lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. C2S AEL are looking forward to face InterCollege Etha (#4) in Nicosia in the next round. Anagennises will play against the league's second-placed Anorthosis and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
