Regular Season Round 25: N.Novgorod-2 - MBA-2 62-63

The most interesting game of round 25 in the VTB-Youth League was only one-point a home defeat of 8th ranked N.Novgorod-2 (14-15) to seventh ranked MBA-2 (15-14) 63-62. It ended the two-game winning streak of N.Novgorod-2. N.Novgorod-2 was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-12 charge of MBA-2, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 N.Novgorod-2 turnovers. Point guard Vladimir Laptev (183-99) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and guard Egor Pokinko (185-2) chipped in 13 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side forward Yegor Chepik (197-0) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and guard Artem Orekhov (191-2) scored 16 points. N.Novgorod-2's coach Roman Gorelovskiy tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. MBA-2 moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Unics-2. N.Novgorod-2 at the other side keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. MBA-2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. N.Novgorod-2 will play again at home against MBA-2 (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
