Bottom-ranked Spartak St.Petersburg managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the eight-game losing streak. This time they won against tenth-ranked Runa Basket in Sankt Petersburg 93-78. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 15-point difference suggests that Spartak St.Petersburg is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. They made 30-of-39 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Runa Basket was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Alimdzhan Fedyushin (210-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Guard Alexander Martynov (197-95) contributed with 28 points and 4 assists for the winners. Spartak St.Petersburg (5-14) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Khimky-Podmos. Newly promoted Runa Basket dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Univ.Surgut and Ufimets Ufa. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against higher ranked Temp (#5) in Revda in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Runa Basket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Moscow CSKA 2.
