Regular Season Round 27: MBA-2 - Lokomotiv-2 71-68

The most exciting game of round 27 in the VTB-Youth League took place in Moscow. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Lokomotiv-2 (16-16) to fifth ranked MBA-2 (17-15) 71-68 in the game for the fifth place. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. MBA-2 shot 19 for 27 from the free-throw line, while Lokomotiv-2 only scored three points from the stripe. Strangely Lokomotiv-2 outrebounded MBA-2 44-26 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for guard Maksim Lichutin (189-0) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Vladimir Laptev (183-99) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Nikita Remizov (197-0, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) with 16 points and forward Daniil Sereda (197-1) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Lokomotiv-2's coach Evgeni Safonov tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted MBA-2 maintains fifth place with 17-15 record. Lokomotiv-2 at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Unics-2 and N.Novgorod-2. MBA-2 are again looking forward to face Lokomotiv-2 (#7) in Krasnodar in the next round. Lokomotiv-2 will have a break next round.
