Regular Season Round 28: Khimki-2 - Samara-2 78-75

The most exciting game of round 28 in the VTB-Youth League took place in Khimki. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Samara-2 (24-8) to fourth ranked Khimki-2 (20-12) 78-75 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Samara-2. Samara-2 was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Khimki-2 made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Samara-2 turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of center Vladislav Sharapov (205-99) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Ivan Evstigneev (194-99) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Khimki-2's coach Alexander Gerasimov used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Danila Chikarev (197-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and forward Oleg Cherepanov (199-99) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Samara-2. Khimki-2 moved-up to third place. Samara-2 at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. Khimki-2 are looking forward to face Avtodor-2 (#4) in Saratov in the next round. Samara-2 will play on the road against Parma-2 in Perm and is hoping to win this game.
