Regular Season Round 30: MBA-2 - Zenit-2 61-62

A very close game took place in Moscow between Zenit-2 and MBA-2. Ninth ranked Zenit-2 (15-19) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked MBA-2 (18-16). Zenit-2 managed to escape with a 1-point win 62-61 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of MBA-2. MBA-2 was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-19 charge of Zenit-2, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Gennadii Denisov (207-0) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Daniil Mikhailov (198-99) chipped in 15 points during the contest. Zenit-2's coach Ramunas Cvirka used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Egor Pokinko (185-2) with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Vladimir Laptev (183-99) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Zenit-2 maintains ninth position with 15-19 record. Newly promoted MBA-2 keeps the fifth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Unics-2 and Lokomotiv-2. Zenit-2 will meet at home higher ranked N.Novgorod-2 (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. MBA-2 will play against the league's second-placed Samara-2 where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
