Regular Season Round 20: Omonia - Apoel 70-68

Important game to mention about took place in Nicosia. Seventh ranked Omonia (7-11) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Apoel (8-10) 70-68 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Apoel won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Apoel 45-32 including 30 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. Point guard David Nichols (183-96, college: FSU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Nate Britt (185-94, college: UNC) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Guard Blake Hamilton (198-94, college: Buffalo) replied with 20 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and point guard Jarvis Garrett (182-95, college: URI) added 14 points in the effort for Apoel. Omonia moved-up to sixth place. Apoel at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Omonia will play against Etha (#7) in Nicosia in the next round. Apoel will play at home against AEL and hopes to get back on the winning track.
