Regular Season Round 24: Runa Basket - Samara 92-84

Fourth defeat of league's leader Samara (19-4) against ninth ranked Runa Basket (11-12) 92-84 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Samara. Runa Basket made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Strangely Samara outrebounded Runa Basket 39-26 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Samara helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for center Ivan Lazarev (210-91) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Addison Spruill (195-93, college: UNCW, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Runa Basket players scored in double figures. Guard Vladimir Pichkurov (196-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) replied with 27 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and American guard Baden Jaxen (191-90, college: UNC) added 25 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Samara. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Runa Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with MBA Moscow. Samara at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Spartak-Prim. who have the same record. Samara will play next round against strong Vostok-65 trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Runa Basket will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Uralmash in Ekaterinburg.
