Regular Season Round 31: Zenit-2 - N.Novgorod-2 81-64

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked N.Novgorod-2 (16-19) lost to ninth ranked Zenit-2 (16-19) in Sankt Petersburg 64-81. The game was mostly controlled by Zenit-2. N.Novgorod-2 was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded N.Novgorod-2 36-24 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Nikita Soldatov (200-99) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points and 6 rebounds. Daniil Mikhailov (198-99) helped adding 15 points. At the losing side forward Yegor Chepik (197-0) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and guard Artem Orekhov (191-2) scored 9 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zenit-2 moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated N.Novgorod-2. N.Novgorod-2 lost third consecutive game. Zenit-2 will again play against N.Novgorod-2 (#8) in Nizhny Novgorod in the next round. N.Novgorod-2 will have a break next round.
