We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Sankt Petersburg where 7th ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (17-21) was defeated by eighth ranked MBA-2 (15-23) 72-60 on Wednesday. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Pozdnyakova Anna (181-0) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds and center Vera Kuchina (195-0) who added 11 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. MBA-2's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side guard Victoria Mazur (164-92) responded with 23 points and 6 rebounds and Natalia Vodopianova produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. MBA-2 maintains eighth position with 15-23 record. Newly promoted Spartak St.Petersburg keeps the seventh place with 21 games lost. MBA-2 will meet Chernye Medv. (#9) in the next round. Spartak St.Petersburg will play against Vologda-Chevakata and hope to secure a win.
