Bottom-ranked Vologda-Chevakata managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the twenty one-game losing streak. This time they won against ninth-ranked Chernye Medv. in Sankt Petersburg 74-64. Vologda-Chevakata dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Chernye Medv.'s 26. Vologda-Chevakata forced 19 Chernye Medv. turnovers and outrebounded them 48-32 including 21 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of center Irina Mukataeva (189-95) who helped to win the game recording 9 points, 22 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Tatyana Ignatchenko (188-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Vologda-Chevakata players scored in double figures. Power forward Viktoriya Shipovskaya (182-94) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds and guard Elizaveta Balykova (172-98) added 17 points and 5 assists in the effort for Chernye Medv.Chernye Medv.'s coach Kiril Volodin rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Vologda-Chevakata maintains twelfth position with 6-32 record. Newly promoted Chernye Medv. keeps the ninth place with 25 games lost. Vologda-Chevakata will play against higher ranked Spartak St.Petersburg (#7) in Sankt Petersburg in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Chernye Medv. will play at home against MBA-2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
